ENNA 4th Annual Conference in European Parliament, 9th - 10th December
This years conference 'Afghanistan Post Elections: Civil Society and International Policy' will discuss how Civil Society can bring new momentum to reconstruction and state-building in Afghanistan. ENNA calls for coordinated European support to Afghanistan 22nd October 2009
At the start of European Development days ENNA today issued a press statement calling for greater cohesion in the European support to Afghanistan. The Europan Council will launch a new strategic direction for support to Afghanistan towards the end of October. Earlier this month ENNA, in collaboration with the British and Irish Afghan Agencies Group (BAAG), forwarded their main concerns and suggestions to the European Council. ENNA at European Development Days October 2009
ENNA is organising a sideevent during European Development Days, 22-24 October. The event, themed 'Security and Development: the impact of international missions on local society' is scheduled for the 23rd of October. Speakers will include Mirwais Wardak (CPAU), Abdul Salam Rahimy (SABA Media) and Bettina Muscheidt (DG Relex). For more information go to:

Member state dialogue this autumn
ENNA members and partners in Norway, Netherlands, Germany and U.K are working together this autumn. Members have invited Mirwais Wardak (CPAU) and Abdul Salam Rahimy (SABA Media) to discuss civil society's role in Afghanistan's development with NGOs, ministries and parlamentarians.
New members welcomed at Annual Review Meeting in Brussels
ENNA formally approved two new applications for membership at the Annual Review Meeting on the 12th of June 2009 in Brussels. Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) already collaborates with, ENNA member, Norwegian Church Aid on joint advocacy work in Norway. NAC will join ENNA as a new member. The Italian network Afgana collaborated with ENNA during the civil society conference in 2008 and will join ENNA as a associate member.

NATO Secretary General
Together with BAAG and CCIC, ENNA forwarded the attached letter to the NATO Secretary General ahead of the NATO Summit meetings of Heads of State and Government in Strasbourg, France and Kehl, Germany on 3-4 April 2009.

ENNA Conference 12th of November 2008, Brussels
This years ENNA Conference in the European Parliament is titled 'Ascent out of Chaos: can it be done and if so how'. Peacebuilding in Afghanistan is on the agenda and we have invited Ahmed Rashid and Kristian Berg Harpviken along with representatives from Afghan Civil Society, ECHO, DG Relex and NATO to present their views.

Exploring Afghan perception of civil-military relations
ENNA, in collaboration with the British Afghan Agencies Group, recently completed a 2 year research project into Civil Military relations.
